Struggling with Problem-Solving? Have you tried Inversion? Here’s how it can transform your approach

Do you sometimes say: “I don’t know what to do next with this problem”?

I get you because I do all the time. I feel like I don’t know how to solve the problem sitting in front of me. I feel helpless.

At least I was…. until I learned Inversion Method to apply in my day-to-day life and start solving my problems easier.

What is Inversion? Problems are often best solved when they are reversed. It’s easier to think about what you don’t want than what you do. When you invert a problem, you define the outputs you want to avoid and then plan the steps to avoid getting that result.

📋 Some examples of Inversion

  • Want to be more productive? Instead of thinking through your perfect day, think about the worst day imaginable and how to avoid it.
  • Want to write well? Instead of thinking about how to write well, think about how to write badly and start listing things like over-complicated use of language, repetitive words, no practical takeaway etc., to avoid.
  • Want to be a better leader? Instead of asking how to be a better leader, list down what makes a leader terrible and avoid those things such as encouraging blaming culture, taking all the credit instead of empowering your team to shine, making demands from your team that you’re not willing to do etc.
  • Want to improve your finances? Instead of asking how I can save more money, try to list the things that can destroy your financial health.
